How does the purge work? Did you trigger it or does it just happen whenever Stalin feels like it?
Depends on the version/mod. In Darkest Hour Full it just happens, and you can’t do much about it. In SMEP (I think it was SMEP) you got a choice to do it or not, but if you didn’t it turns out they actually are traitors so you have to fight a civil war in the late ’30s.
