Fuel

When you settle down for a nice long session of gaming, is there anything in particular you like to have to eat or drink along with it? Myself I love a drink of Dr. Pepper to go with my videogames (And it is starting to show on my waistline, sigh) whilst our dear Pike can’t do without her Mt. Dew. I love Mt. Dew myself but good luck finding it over here in England! When I was a kid it was 7-Up all the way, I even played that Cool Spot game, which was surprisingly good!

I tend to actually prefer fruit like satsumas and bananas to anything candy-esque these days, but still a bar of chocolate or a bag of crisps (Potato chops for you rebel types) is always welcome as well! A Crunchie bar, or a bag of Cheese & Onion. Tasty way to fill up without needing to turn away from the game!

Oh, thanks AJ! Apples are delicious!

What about you, readers? Do you guys have any particular things you like to eat or drink while gaming? Tell us in the comments!

  1. I’ll eat almost anything placed in front of me when I’m gaming, which means I’m likely to not put any food within arm’s reach of myself. I’m not the most rotund individual, but I’m trying to slim down a bit.

  2. I generally try not to eat anything crumbly or that sticks to my fingers. Crumbs in the keyboard and a sticky mouse are a bad situation. A giant bottle of water so I don’t have to get up to refill very often is a must. Usually I’ll go for peanut butter M&Ms if I want a snack. Granola bars are pretty good too.

  3. Two-liter of dew, sometimes multiple. For the more robust sessions (such as last weekend’s GW2 exploits), a friend or I will make japanese curry. It is delicious enough to warrant getting up for.

Also, I approve of the new category.

  4. Now that I think about it, I only ever have tea. Even though I love my Dr. Pepper and Mt Dew (unfortunately, the local dining commons stocks no Coke products), I never actually buy any except out of a vending machine…

  5. For me it’s a bag of Middleswarth (a local brand. Can’t find it outside of PA.) BBQ potato chips. It’s taken me a few years but I’m starting to realize a correlation between my gaming and snacking habits and the weight I’ve gained.

  6. Hot chocolate – and I don’t mean that Swiss Miss crap!

    For one large cup:

    about 50g dark chocolate
400-500ml regular milk (enough to fill that large cup)
vanilla sugar and cinnamon to taste (I use about 1 teaspoon of VS and 1/2 of cinnamon)

Pour the milk into a pan, break up the chocolate and put it into the pan. Add the VS and cinnamon. Heat slowly and stir constantly. Heat up to serving temperature (take a sip from the spoon), it should be quite warm but not scalding, do not boil. Pour into your cup and add a dollop of whipped cream/Ice cream for added w00t :)

Can’t beat that, especially on a cold day!

      1. It’s good the whole year round, but it’s extra special when coming in on a cold winter’s day! Try it and let me know how you like it.

  7. Mt. Dew….lots of it, preferably in cans, served warm.

    This week:
Caramel coated Bugles (my newest addiction)
    carrot chips/celery and veggie dip
    mocha latte suckers

mostly finger foods that can be popped in your mouth between pulls in a raid, lol.

  8. Cups of tea and some joints to smoke. I’m not one for eating much, but the tea is a national requirement for us Brits.
